A typical morning at Rescue Ranch

Hi! Yup, another blog post about chickens! This time I’m going to show you what a typical morning for a chicken at Rescue Ranch looks like.

Rescue Ranch is a beautiful property, tucked in a wonderful valley in Vacaville. When the sun comes up, the hens at RR get pretty excited because they want three things: food, water and being outside!!

DSCN0448Okay, so these girls really like to get up early, so 7am sharp (well, most of the time not quite as sharp, haha) we’ll open the gates.

It doesn’t take long and they’re running outside, yeaaaahhh!! What a sight! 🙂

Once it gets to cleaning the barns, these girls are no fools! Of course, they help as much as they can and offer their hand – oh I mean, their toes – wherever they can.

Well, most of the time the so called ‘help’ equals rather hanging out in the straw than actually helping to get the barn cleaned.

Anyway, we do appreciate their ‘help’, because it makes us laugh – A LOT!!

Once all the dirty straw is removed, we restraw the barn. Guess what! That’s even more fun! I had even one girl jumping right into my arms because she loves the straw so much, haha!!! Isn’t she lovely?

Okay, then we move on to the next barn and the next and the next.

Once all the barns are clean and shiny, then it’s time to relax! A nice sunbath anyone?

Or, just showing off with your friends is always quite a favorite here 🙂  Look at these amazing yellow (!) legs!! Isn’t she beautiful?

Want to know how to make the sweeties really happy? All you need is… WATER and some MUD!!!

Until next time 🙂
